The largest NATO base in Europe, the size of a small city, is being built in Romania, costing 2.5 billion euros.
Euronews reports this.
The new military base will have an area of 2,800 hectares and a total perimeter of 30 kilometers.
Up to 10 thousand NATO military personnel and members of their families can permanently reside there.
The facility is being built in the district of Constanta (Romanian port on the Black Sea), on the basis of the already existing NATO airbase “Mihail Kogalniceanu”.
The base will have weapons platforms, hangars for military aircraft, as well as schools, kindergartens, shops and a hospital.
The base will become NATO’s most important permanent military structure in close proximity to Ukraine.
