Lai Ching-Te leads Taiwan presidential election

It has become known that in the presidential elections in Taiwan, after processing almost 95% of the votes, Lai Ching-Te is in the lead.

This is the head of the leading Democratic Progressive Party, he gains more than 40% of the votes.

The representative of the main opposition force, Hou Yui from the Kuomintang, receives more than 33% and has already admitted defeat.

By law, there is no second round of elections in Taiwan, and the person with the most votes wins.

The ruling party advocates maximum distancing (up to the declaration of independence) of Taiwan from China.

At the same time, the opposition candidate Kuomintang is a supporter of rapprochement with the PRC.

Тобто нинішня напруженість у відносинах між материковим Китаєм та Тайванем збережеться.
