Fascinating but Strange

Archaeologists have discovered a sunken port from Cleopatra’s time in Egypt. This discovery will assist in the ongoing search for the queen’s tomb

Sunken port from Cleopatra’s time found in Egypt

A group of archaeologists has discovered traces of an ancient sunken port in Egypt.

This discovery may help in the ongoing search for Queen Cleopatra’s tomb, according to National Geographic magazine.

A Dominican archaeological mission led by Martinez found stone and metal anchors.

They also found many ancient amphorae and the remains of an inner harbor a few miles from the coast of Taposiris Magna.

The discovery is strong evidence in favor of the hypothesis that this temple could have been chosen for the joint burial of Cleopatra and her lover.

In addition, researchers cleared a tunnel discovered by Martinez and other archaeologists in 2022 that connects the temple of Taposiris Magna to the sea.

This ancient tunnel is located about 12 meters underground and is 1.3 kilometers long.
