South Korean fighter jets accidentally dropped 8 bombs on the city of Pocheon during a training exercise, injuring 7 people
On March 6, two KF-16 fighter jets of the South Korean Air Force accidentally dropped four MK-82 aerial bombs each outside a training range.
A live-fire exercise was taking place at the range at the time. About it, writes the agency “Yonhap”.
One bomb fell on the road near a residential building, resulting in seven people were injured.
They were hospitalized; the condition of two of the injured is assessed as serious.
A church, six other buildings, and a truck were also damaged due to the incident.
The affected city of Pohochon is located near Seoul. It is home to about 140,000 people.
“We regret the civilian damage caused by the abnormal dumping and wish a speedy recovery to those injured,” the air force said in a statement.
The Air Force promises to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the incident and compensate for the damage.
