Biden secretly gave Ukraine permission to strike inside Russia with U.S. weapons
It has become known that US President Joe Biden secretly gave Ukraine permission to launch strikes with US weapons deep into Russian territory.
This is reported by Politico.
But strikes on the territory of Russia with American weapons are not allowed everywhere.
It is authorized exclusively in the Kharkiv area, where the Russian military has launched a massive offensive.
“The president recently ordered his team to ensure that Ukraine can use U.S. weapons for targets near Kharkov,” he said.
“So that Ukraine can respond to Russian forces that are striking or preparing to strike,” an unnamed U.S. official told Politico.
He added, however, that the White House’s policy on long-range strikes inside Russia has not changed.
And the Pentagon said today that the U.S. still does not encourage the use of U.S. weapons on Russian territory.
“We do not encourage its use on Russian territory,” U.S. Defense Department spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said at a briefing.
Earlier, Emmanuel Macron also called for Kiev to be allowed to strike military positions in Russia that were used to attack Ukraine.
Earlier, Secretary of State Blinken admitted that the US authorities may authorize Ukraine to launch strikes with US weapons on Russian territory.
