Shooting at the U.S. embassy in Lebanon

It is reported that in Beirut, an armed man opened fire on the American Embassy building.

Lebanese Army soldiers on the spot returned fire, wounding the gunman.

Initial reports indicate that the shooter is a Syrian national and has been taken to the hospital.

All streets leading to the embassy have been blocked off. An investigation has been launched.

According to the embassy’s press service, the mission staff is safe; there are no injuries among them.
