Seiko TV Wristwatch

The first wristwatch with a built-in television screen, the Seiko TV Watch, 1982

The Seiko TV Watch was produced between 1982 and 1985 in Japan.

The watch had a separate external TV receiver powered by two finger batteries, as well as a small speaker with a headphone input.

The batteries kept the device running for 5 hours, after which it needed to be replaced.

The watch could catch up to 80 TV channels, and was also equipped with a radio, stopwatch and alarm clock.

Despite all these impressive features, they did not find popularity in their time.

The picture quality was very poor, and the small screen made viewing uncomfortable.

Moreover, the need to carry a lot of accessories made them uncomfortable to use.

This led to the watch becoming a collector’s item.
