Scientists have discovered an exoplanet that shares an orbit around a star with its twin!

“Trojan” planets: World astronomers for the first time discovered such rare phenomena in a young star.

We are talking about two planets revolving around one star in one orbit, this is the first evidence of the existence of such rare “Trojan” planets.

Such unusual objects were noticed near the young star PDS 70, located at a distance of about 370 light-years from the Sun. It is a planet the size of Jupiter.

Many years ago, astronomers theoretically predicted that pairs of planets of the same mass could be in the same orbit around their star. But only now scientists have managed to discover such a “duet”.

To search for Trojans, astronomers used the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA), a collection of 66 telescopes in Chile’s Atacama Desert.

As scientists say, such planets have the same length of the year and similar living conditions. Follow-up observations of unusual planets are planned to be carried out until 2026.
