Scientists discover hooves on dinosaurs

Paleontologists from the University of Chicago studied the remains of duck-billed Edmontosaurus dinosaurs and discovered hooves on reptiles for the first time.

The fossils were found in the US state of Wyoming. Scientists were able to reconstruct the true appearance of the skin and limbs of ancient reptiles.

As a result, they determined that the toes of the Edmontosaurus’ hind legs had hooves. This was reported in the journal Science.

“This is not only the first case of hooves being found on a dinosaur, but on any reptile,” the publication states.

Experts say that the fossils found are more than 66-69 million years old.

As specified in the article, this is the oldest example of hooves in any animal.

Earlier it was reported that scientists had found the remains of a three-eyed predator. Paleontologists discovered a strange fossil of a predatory creature that lived 506 million years ago in Canada.
