Russian satellite makes strange maneuvers in orbit
The recently launched Russian satellite Cosmos-2588 entered an orbit that almost repeats the trajectory of the U.S. government’s USA 338.
Such incomprehensible and strange actions of the Russian satellite caused concern among specialists and military analysts.
According to the U.S. Space Command, the Russian satellite conducted a series of maneuvers, approaching the American object at a very close distance.
Such actions have increased suspicions that Russia continues to develop orbital anti-satellite technology.
Previously, the Russian side has officially stated the peaceful purpose of its future space missions.
Slingshot Aerospace’s orbital tracking experts speculate that Cosmos-2588 could be an inspection satellite with possible kinetic weapons.
Such incidents have happened before. Russia has placed satellites in orbits near U.S. KH-series optical reconnaissance vehicles four times in the past five years.
Astronomers note that the activity of Cosmos-2588 is reminiscent of previous missions Cosmos-2542, 2558, and 2576.
Such activities may indicate the practice of covert deployment strategies for potential orbital weapons.
The international community continues to closely monitor the situation.

Earlier, it was reported that NATO fighters intercepted a Russian spy plane near Poland. Swedish fighters Jas 39 Gripen identified Il-20.
Russian planes regularly violate the airspace of NATO countries. In response, the Alliance has increased air patrols in the Baltic Sea region and Eastern Europe.
