Russian and Belarusian athletes who qualified for the 2024 Olympics will not be allowed to participate in the opening ceremony of the Games.
The International Olympic Committee reports this.
Their medals, in case of victory, will not appear in the overall standings, and the award ceremony will take place to music without words.
It is also reported that the IOC did not include in the rules for the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to the Olympics a clause condemning the war in Ukraine.
Now we know about 12 Russian and 7 Belarusian athletes who qualified for the Olympics.
In total, according to the International Olympic Committee, a maximum of 55 Russians will be able to qualify for the Olympics in Paris.
Previously, information appeared that Ukraine does not rule out a boycott of the 2024 Olympics after the committee’s decision to allow Russians in a neutral status.
