Russia lost almost 90% of its tanks in Ukraine
Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has lost almost 90% of its tanks in Ukraine. Forbes reports this.
Journalists of the publication have information that the Russian army launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine with 2987 tanks.
In almost 23 months of heavy fighting, the Russian military has lost at least 2,619 tanks, which independent analysts can confirm.
These are 1725 destroyed, 145 damaged, 205 abandoned and 544 captured T-55, T-62, T-72, T-80 and T-90.
It is also noted that if the Russian authorities did not have the ability to make up for their military losses, the number of tanks would be reduced to 368 units.
“This is too small to defend against the Ukrainian tank corps, which consists of pre-war, restored and donated tanks and, minus losses, can number about 1,000 vehicles,” Forbes states.
For now, Russia has sources for replacing tanks. This is the Uralvagonzavod plant, which produces new T-90M, as well as 4 enterprises that repair old tanks. Their production capacity is unknown.
Russian military PMI claims that the army has received 1,500 new and upgraded tanks as a result of intensive industrial efforts.
