Fascinating but Strange

The remains of the Long March 2C space rocket fell on a populated area of China. Clearly, there was an error in calculating the point of impact

Remnants of a space rocket fell on a populated area in China

It became known that the debris of a space rocket fell on the Chinese village. This is reported by Spacenews.

The fallen rocket debris was the upper stage of the X-ray telescope put into orbit.

It is reported that the launch itself was successful, but probably the calculation of the point of fall was an error.

The launch aimed to study high-energy electromagnetic radiation with two French and two Chinese scientific instruments.

The SVOM mission, the result of a collaboration between the Chinese National Space Administration (CNSA) and the French National Center for Space Research (CNES).

It aims to study gamma-ray bursts (GRBs), which are powerful electromagnetic explosions.

This research could provide answers to key questions in astrophysics, particularly about the death of stars and the creation of black holes.
