Putin is ready to end the war in Ukraine
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is allegedly ready to end the war in Ukraine if the current front lines are fixed at the talks.
This was reported by Reuters, citing four Russian high-ranking sources.
It is claimed that Putin is allegedly ready to halt the ongoing third-year war with Ukraine and broker a truce, provided he retains control of the territories he has already conquered.
“Putin can fight as long as it takes, but he is also ready for a ceasefire – to freeze the war,” a source who has worked with the Russian dictator said.
Putin understands that a further offensive would require a repeat of mass mobilization, the sources said.
The first wave of mobilization in the fall of 2022 collapsed the Kremlin’s approval rating and forced hundreds of thousands of Russian citizens to flee abroad.
Reuters sources in the Russian dictator’s entourage say Putin is ready to end the war.
This could happen despite the fact that its original goals of a full takeover of the territories of Ukraine’s Donetsk and Lugansk regions remain unfulfilled.
If the West rejects his proposal, however, Putin is ready to continue to fight further.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron recalled his initiative to declare a ceasefire.
The supposed truce could take place during the July–August Paris Olympics, but he noted that this is not his goal.
