In the south of Egypt during excavation, archaeologists managed to find part of the foundation of the temple of Hatshepsut – one of the few female pharaohs.

This was announced by Egyptologist Zahi Hawass during a press conference, Reuters reported.

“Part of the foundation of Hatshepsut’s temple has been discovered, which was located in the vicinity of the valley and was the main entrance gate to the temple,” he noted.

Among other things, the researchers found bronze coins with images of Alexander the Great, dating from the period of Ptolemy I (367-283).

Archaeological excavations in the area have been taking place since September 2022.

Earlier, a group of archaeologists during excavations in Egypt found a statue supposedly depicting the face of the famous Egyptian queen Cleopatra VII.

The marble statue, depicting a woman wearing a royal crown, was discovered at the site of the ancient Egyptian city of Taposiris Magna under the temple wall.

Archaeologists also found 337 coins depicting Cleopatra, a bronze ring dedicated to the goddess Hathor.
