Scientists have conducted an unusual new study and stated that electronic music can repel mosquitoes.
Such an experiment is reported in the scientific journal Acta Tropica.
The new study showed that the most effective way to repel insects was dubstep.
For the experiment, scientists chose mosquitoes of the species Aedes aegypti and included them to track Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites from a famous musician under the pseudonym Skrillex.
The mosquitoes’ behavior began to change under the influence of loud electronic rhythms. Because of this, the insects began to attack people less.
And those mosquitoes that did take risks did so with a strong delay. The number of bites decreased several times compared to normal conditions.
At the same time, such music also disturbed mating behavior; mosquitoes became less active in mating.
