Lukashenko has banned any trial of himself or his family

Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko signed amendments to the Law “On the President”, which grant immunity to the outgoing president and his family for any crimes committed during his reign.

Also, any procedural actions against him and deprivation of his freedom are not allowed.

The property of the former President of the Republic of Belarus, assets, correspondence and the right to lifelong state protection remain inviolable.

After his resignation, Lukashenko will receive a gift of state real estate for permanent residence, including “a plot of land with capital buildings located on it.”

The president who ceases to exercise his duties becomes a delegate to the national assembly and a lifelong member of the Council of the Republic.

A Belarusian citizen of at least 40 years of age who has permanently resided in the country for at least 20 years before the elections and does not have a foreign residence permit will be able to run for the position of president.
