London judge acquits climate activist Greta Thunberg over protest at an oil industry conference

London court acquits activist Greta Thunberg

It became known that the London District Court on February 2 acquitted 21-year-old Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg and four other people.

Activists were accused of refusing to obey police during a climate protest in October 2023.

Associated Press reports.

Five climate activists, including Thunberg, were accused of violating the public order law.

They allegedly blocked the entrance to the Intercontinental Hotel, where the Energy Intelligence Forum was continuing with the participation of oil and gas industry leaders.

The court dropped the charges due to a “lack of evidence” and added that London police had tried to impose conditions on the protest that were “so vague that they were illegal.”
