It became known that the singer from the Netherlands, Joost Klein, was disqualified and suspended from participation in Eurovision 2024.
It is reported that the reason for disqualification was a complaint filed against Klein by the Swedish police by an employee of the Eurovision film crew.
The employee accused the Dutch singer of violent behavior and illegal threats.
“Swedish police have launched an investigation into a complaint by a female crew member following an incident after his performance in the semi-finals on Thursday evening.”
“As long as the legal process is ongoing, it would not be appropriate for the Dutch representative to continue to participate in the contest”, Eurovision organizers said.
There are no details in the press release, and the behavior of the Dutch rapper regarding a member of the team is called “inappropriate” and considered a violation of the contest rules.
It also became known that Klein performed in the Russian city of St. Petersburg after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine began.
The singer collaborated with Russian artists and, in March 2022, released his track, in which he expressed his love for the aggressor state of the Russian Federation.
Jost Klein’s song Europapa was considered one of the favorites in the Grand Final. Bookmakers predicted seventh place for the Dutchman.
As you know, the final of the contest will be held on May 11. Representatives of 25 participating countries will take to the stage.
