Iran fired 185 drones, 36 cruise missiles and 110 surface-to-surface missiles (according to preliminary estimates) at Israel. The attack lasted 5-6 hours.
Media Israeli claims that 99% of the missiles and drones fired were intercepted. Moreover, most of them were shot down while still approaching.
Where did they attack from? Missiles and drones were launched from Lebanon, Iran, Syria, Yemen and Iraq.
It was Iran that fired at Israel from its territory for the first time.
Why attacked? Iran said this was in response to Israel’s recent shelling of the Iranian consulate in Damascus, which killed an Iranian general.
The EU, USA, UN reacted and condemned the attack. In addition, meetings of the G7 and the UN are being convened.
The response to the terrorist attack is questionable: the United States will not conduct offensive operations against Iran – Biden. The White House also calls for a “cautious” response.
