Shortly before the truce began, Iran launched a missile strike on Israel, damaging civilian infrastructure
Iran fired several volleys of rockets into Israel hours after US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire agreement between Tehran and Tel Aviv.
One of the rockets hit an apartment building in the southern Israeli city of Be’er Sheva, Israel’s Magen David Adom ambulance service said. Four people were killed in the strike.
Two others suffered moderate injuries, and about twenty were lightly wounded. Search and rescue operations are continuing at the site.
An air alert has been declared in all areas of Israel. Iranian state television confirmed shortly after the strike that the ceasefire had come into effect.
It has just been reported that Israel has officially agreed to Trump’s ceasefire proposal
Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office said the country would “respond resolutely” to any ceasefire violations by Iran and thanked Trump for his support.
The authorities also stressed that they had achieved their goal of neutralizing the nuclear and missile threat.
