Iran imposes a massive ban on dog walking

It has become known that a ban on dog walking, which was previously in effect only in Tehran, is being imposed on the whole of Iran.

The new law will now apply to about 20 other cities in the country, including Isfahan and Kerman. This is reported by local media.

It is reported that the local authorities explain it by alleged concern for “public order, safety, and health.”

According to the representative of the Ilam city administration, legal measures will be taken against violators.

As is known, the attitude toward dogs in Iran remains tense. Although keeping dogs is not officially forbidden.

Since the Islamic Revolution, which took place in 1979, conditions for owners of animals are constantly tightened.

In Islamic tradition, dogs are considered unclean, and walking with them is seen as a manifestation of the Western lifestyle.

According to religious conservatives, having dogs on the streets disturbs other people and harms Islamic culture.

Therefore, they have been pushing for a complete ban on keeping and walking animals for many years.
