It has become known that Apple has started a partnership with SpaceX to add Starlink support to iPhones in the future.
It is known that on January 27, Apple released a software update. This is reported by Bloomberg.
It included a beta testing function for Starlink support. It currently includes a small number of iPhones.
As part of the testing, the first users received a notification from T-Mobile, “You are in the beta version of T-Mobile Starlink.
Now you can stay in touch via text messages via satellite from almost anywhere in the world, update to iOS 18.3”.
The material says that Starlink support will work as follows.
When the iPhone is in an area without cellular coverage, it tries to connect to SpaceX satellites.
For now, only text messages can be sent via satellite communication.
However, satellite communication does not contain data in places where there is cellular coverage.
It is also known that T-Mobile and SpaceX plan to expand the data and voice calling program in the future.
