In Congo, hundreds of prisoners have escaped from prison
It became known that in DR Congo, hundreds of male prisoners escaped from prison.
They then raped and burned alive more than 160 women prisoners, reports the BBC, with reference to the UN report.
It is known that most of the women died after the prisoners set fire to the prison.
The men managed to escape from the prison because the town of Munzenze began to be taken over by rebels.
The M23 movement, backed by Rwanda, made a rapid advance through eastern DR Congo.
The city was then plunged into chaos, with bodies lying in the streets and rockets flying over residential buildings.
According to the latest UN figures, at least 2,900 people have been killed in the fighting.
The rebels had already announced a ceasefire for humanitarian reasons the other day.
However, new reports have emerged that they opened fire again yesterday and went on the offensive.
