Fascinating but Strange

An asteroid could collide with Earth in 2032. Scientists suggest that an asteroid called 2024 YR4 may have the power of a nuclear bomb

In 2032 with the Earth may collide with an asteroid

It became known that he was discovered last December and is called, 2024 YR4, writes BBC.

Scientists estimate the chance of collision of the asteroid with the Earth in only 1.3%.

Nevertheless, the asteroid now tops the list of potentially dangerous for the planet celestial bodies.

Scientists suggest that the asteroid 2024 YR4 may have the power of a nuclear bomb.

In the case of falling on inhabited territory, the impact could experience significant destruction.

It is much more likely that the asteroid will fall into the ocean or onto a remote part of the planet, but this is not yet known.

It is too far away from Earth to calculate the location of the impact if it does occur.

Fortunately, humanity has time to prepare.

In 2022, NASA successfully tested the DART mission by deflecting an asteroid with a spacecraft.

This method can also be applied to an asteroid called 2024 YR4.
