In 2024, in the world, there will be a record number of executions

It has become known that in the past 2024 in the world, there will be a record number of executions. This is reported by Amnesty International.

In 2024, at least, 1518 people were executed in 15 countries of the world – this is the highest figure since 2015.

Iran, Iraq and Saudi Arabia are largely responsible for the rise in executions.

The report does not take into account the thousands of likely executions in China, North Korea and Vietnam, where execution data remains classified.

In particular, China remains the country with the highest number of executions in the world, according to human rights activists.

In 2024, Belarus remained the only country in Europe applying the death penalty.

Due to the regime of secrecy, the exact number of those sentenced to death in Belarus remains unknown.

But at least one person remained on the death row at the end of 2024.
