In the state of Florida, evacuate tens of thousands of residents because of Hurricane Helen.
More than 70,000 people left their homes because of the elements, reported the American newspaper USA Today.
More than 1 million people remained without light. It is noted that this hurricane was the first known storm of the 4th category that hit the Big Bend region of Florida since 1851.
“Those living in coastal or low-lying areas may not survive this event.. There has never been a storm in history of this magnitude that hit Wakulla,” Wakulla County Sheriff Jared Miller wrote on Facebook.
One death is officially known at this point, but local officials are predicting more hurricane casualties.
Mandatory evacuations have been issued in four Florida counties.
