Hungarian Prime Minister Orban was attempted to be attacked during a press conference
“He sold out to Putin, he sold out to Xi Jinping!” – an activist disrupted Orban’s speech in Strasbourg.
During the Hungarian prime minister’s briefing, an activist from a Hungarian opposition party ran up to the podium where Orban was sitting.
The activist threw a wad of something that looked like banknotes at him. The AP reported.
“How much did you sell the country for? For how much did you sell the country, Mr. Prime Minister? – The man shouted. – He sold out to Putin, he sold out to Xi Jinping!”
A security guard threw the activist to the ground and led him out of the room.
Orban is expected to receive a mixed reception in the EU parliament on Wednesday, the publication said.
Many lawmakers are pushing to strip his government of EU funding over what they see as rule of law violations and corruption.
Earlier, Poland’s Foreign Ministry suggested Hungary should leave the EU and NATO and form an alliance with Putin.
Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Wladyslaw Bartoszewski called Orban’s policy anti-European, anti-Ukrainian and anti-Polish.
