Greenland is needed by the U.S. for international security

The US should take possession of Greenland for the sake of international security, Donald Trump said.

At the same time, the new American president hinted at possible threats from Russia and China.

The words of the politician during a speech to journalists in the Oval Office, reports the publication Politico.

“Greenland is a great place. We need it for international security,” Trump said.

The US president is sure that Denmark will go for it, as it has to spend a lot of money to maintain the island.

Trump also added: “You have Russian ships everywhere, you have Chinese ships everywhere – warships – and they [Denmark] can’t maintain it [Greenland].”

The new president did not talk about Greenland in his inauguration speech, recalling the need to reclaim only the Panama Canal.
