Explosion at Jewish School in Amsterdam
The explosion caused only minor damage to the outer wall of the school. No one was injured. Police and firefighters arrived within minutes. This is reported by The Times of Israel.
Security cameras captured footage of a suspect placing and activating the device. Investigators are now reviewing the video, but no arrests have been made so far.
Claim of Responsibility
According to Dutch broadcaster NOS, a previously little-known group calling itself the “Islamic Movement of Right-Wing Youth” (also referred to as an Islamic extremist group in some reports) claimed responsibility in an online video. Dutch intelligence services are currently verifying the claim.
This attack comes just one day after an arson incident at a synagogue in Rotterdam, where four suspects were arrested. Experts link both events to a recent surge in antisemitic incidents across Europe amid heightened tensions in the Middle East.
Mayor Halsema confirmed that Jewish institutions in Amsterdam are now under increased security. Dutch authorities have promised a full investigation and vowed to protect the community.
The incident triggered strong condemnation in the Netherlands and abroad. Jewish organizations called for stronger protection around schools, synagogues, and community centers. Several Dutch politicians expressed solidarity with Amsterdam’s Jewish community.
The investigation remains active. Police are asking anyone with additional information to contact them immediately.
