EU backs Croatia’s accession to Schengen area
Ministers from 27 EU member states voted for this decision.
“We did it! From January 1, 2023, Croatia will join the Schengen area. The last milestone on our integration journey! It will be a special New Year’s Eve. Looking forward to 2023,” Croatian MEP Walter Flego wrote.

It is noted that Bulgaria and Romania will not join the Schengen area due to Austria’s concern about the growth of unauthorized immigration.
