A group of Ukrainian combat drones has attacked a Russian aircraft factory located in the city of Smolensk.
The exact number of drones that attacked Smolensk is still unknown. Locals write about strong explosions in different parts of the city.
It is known that both the local TV tower and the aircraft factory were hit.
In total, there were about 20 explosions, after which the aircraft plant was engulfed in flames,
Smolensk Aviation Plant was opened back in 1926. During the Soviet era, the plant produced sports planes such as “Yak-18T” and passenger aircraft such as “Yak-42”.
Since 2022 it has been under sanctions because of the production of Kh-59 missiles used to bomb peaceful cities in Ukraine.
The plant is also engaged in repair and maintenance of already built airplanes.
