The US Department of Justice has closed two criminal cases against President-elect Donald Trump.
It is reported that these are criminal cases of election interference and storage of classified documents.
Special Prosecutor Jack Smith wrote a statement to Judge Tanya Chutkan, noting that the US Constitution requires the dismissal of the case before the defendant’s inauguration.
“Because Trump is elected president, the court gives the government permission to close this case,” Chutkan noted.
As is known, Donald Trump has been charged in four criminal cases in the US.
So far, only two have been dismissed, while two more criminal cases remain open.
These are falsification of business documents in New York and an attempt to influence the elections in Georgia.
Donald Trump also faces two civil cases related to sexual assault.
