In Taiwan detained a cargo ship suspected of involvement in the damage to an underwater communication cable.
It is noted that the breakage of the cable connecting Taiwan with the Penghu Islands occurred on February 25.
However, communication between the islands did not stop as a replacement cable was automatically activated.
The Coast Guard launched an investigation into the incident and detained the vessel HongTai, which was in the area of the damage at the time of the accident.
It had a crew of eight people on board, all of whom were Chinese nationals.
Final conclusions about whether the cable damage was the result of sabotage or an accident have not yet been reached.
