Biden previously warned Putin about the consequences if Navalny dies

In 2021, Joe Biden said he warned Vladimir Putin of the consequences if jailed Russian dissident Alexei Navalny died in prison.

CNN reported this at the time.

“I made it clear to him that I believe the consequences of this will be devastating for Russia,” Biden said at the time.

Navalny had previously been poisoned by Russian special services a year before, when he fell ill during a flight to Moscow and fell into a coma.

After hospitalization, Navalny was evacuated to Berlin.

After returning to Russia in February, Navalny was sentenced to prison, where he has been.

As we reported today, imprisoned Russian oppositionist and outspoken critic of the Kremlin, Alexei Navalny, died at the age of 47, the Russian Penitentiary Service reported.

“For more than ten years, the Russian government, Putin, persecuted, poisoned and imprisoned Alexei Navalny,” said Anthony Blinken.

“His death in a Russian prison, as well as the fear of one person, only emphasize the weakness and rot at the center of the system built by Putin. Russia is responsible for this,” the US Secretary of State commented on Navalny’s death.
