Australia has banned the use of social networks by children under 16 years of age

It became known that Australia has introduced a historic ban on the use of social networks by children under 16 years of age.

This adopted ban is one of the most stringent measures of this kind operating around the world.

The ban is aimed at addressing the impact of excessive social media use on children’s physical and mental health.

It applies to platforms such as TikTok, Facebook, X, Instagram, Reddit, Snapchat, but does not affect YouTube.

Social networks will be required to prevent children from registering under the threat of fines of up to $33 million.

Social networks will have a year to enforce the age restrictions, after which the new fines will take effect.

Previously, the U.S. and other countries have also tried to introduce restrictions on the use of social networks by teenagers, but not so strict.

The adopted law has already criticized the American billionaire Elon Musk.

Other opponents of the innovation said that the adoption of this law was too hasty.
