World conflict experts have said that artificial intelligence could inadvertently trigger a nuclear Armageddon and World War III in the future

Artificial intelligence may provoke World War III

It has become known that conflict experts fear artificial intelligence, which in the future may accidentally trigger nuclear armageddon and World War III.

It is reported that the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute said that artificial intelligence increases the risk associated with the growth of global nuclear stockpiles, writes the Daily Mail.

Experts pointed to China’s rapidly growing arsenal – from 500 to 600 units in one year – as well as the imminent expiration of the final arms control treaty between the US and Russia.

Institute director Dan Smith warned, “One component of the coming arms race will be an attempt to gain and maintain an advantage in artificial intelligence, both offensively and defensively.

There are advantages to this, but reckless deployment of artificial intelligence could significantly increase nuclear risk.”

He also said that while artificial intelligence could make it easier to assess compliance with a nuclear agreement, it could also enable countries to make faster and less thoughtful decisions.

At the moment, nine countries formally possess nuclear weapons, the Daily Mail recalls.

Five of them – the UK, France, the US, Russia, and China – have signed the nuclear non-proliferation treaty, while India and Pakistan have not.

North Korea signed it but withdrew its signature shortly before conducting its first nuclear test.

Israel is currently at war with Iran, a country accused of developing the technology needed to build nuclear bombs.
