Angry farmers clashed with police in Brussels

Farmers on tractors managed to break through the police blockade of the center of Brussels, located at the intersection of Avenue d’Auderghem and Rue Belliard.

A police spokesman told Belgian media that “the situation is becoming more tense than expected.”

The forces of order called for reinforcements. Earlier, part of the tractor column managed to break through the police barricade.

A few tractors forced their way through one barrier, sending officers scurrying.

At the start of the month, a similar demonstration turned violent as farmers torched hay bales and threw eggs and firecrackers at police near a summit of EU leaders.
