A plane crash involving two Mirage military aircraft has occurred in France.
At the moment, the search for pilots continues. About it reports The Mirror.
The accident with two military aircraft occurred in the middle of the day in Meurthe-et-Moselle, and the search for the pilots has begun, the prefecture said in a statement.
According to regional newspaper L’Est Republican, the crashes involved two Mirage aircraft.
Two fighter jets from the Rafale transformation squadron at the Saint-Dizier airbase in Haute-Marne collided with each other, an air force spokesman in Paris said.
The pilot of one of the planes ejected before impact. He is unharmed.
But the instructor and student pilot who were in the second one were still missing in the morning, the same source added.
The planes are believed to have been flying from the nearby 133 Osh airbase.
They crashed in a hard-to-reach forested area, making rescue efforts difficult.
“We are still looking for the second crew. The departmental operations center was immediately activated,” the Mert et Moselle prefecture said in a statement.
