It is reported that environmental activists poured soup on Claude Monet’s painting “Spring” at the Lyon Museum of Fine Arts.
“This spring will be the only one left if we don’t respond. What will our future artists draw? What will we dream about if there is no more spring?” two participants of the Food Response movement chanted.
In its statement, the movement noted that in this way it wanted to “warn of the impending climate and social crisis.”
After the incident, the impressionist hall was closed, and the painting will be checked by an expert in the near future.
The 1872 painting was protected by glass, but will still undergo a close inspection and restoration, the museum said.
It is reported that the museum will file a complaint against the activists for the act of vandalism.
