A rare card of an NBA star sold for a record amount of money

A rare collector’s card of NBA star Wilt Chamberlain sold for a record $1.7 million.

This is reported by the auction house Goldin in social network X.

It is known that the transaction was formalized privately, the buyer and seller are not known.

Sold at auction, card from Chamberlain’s debut season in the NBA – 1961/1962 from Fleer.

It received the highest grade – ten – from SGC, a company that rates their quality. It is the only card of its kind with that grade.

The card was discovered several years ago in the closet of a grocery store once run by the owner’s family, Bleacher Report notes.

It is the most expensive Chamberlain card ever sold at auction.

The previous record was $670k for a card in 2022. It is also the highest price for a basketball card from those years.

Chamberlain is one of the best basketball players in NBA history, a two-time NBA champion (1967, 1972).

He is also the most valuable player of regular championships (1960, 1966-1968), the author of the record for the number of points scored in one NBA game – 100 points.
