It has been reported that a girl in the US found a tooth belonging to a prehistoric creature while walking on the beach. The Daily Mail wrote about this.
A walk along the west coast of Florida by 26-year-old Nicole Mercury turned out to be a big sensation.
She found a well-preserved tooth of a prehistoric megalodon shark on the beach. According to her, the triangular object was partially sticking out of the sand.
Experts confirmed this and stated that, judging by its size and shape, the tooth found could indeed belong to a megalodon.
This is a giant shark that lived between 2 and 3.6 million years ago. These predators had a bite force capable of crushing a car.
Nicole has been searching for fossils since childhood, when she started walking on the beach with her father.
In recent years, she has collected more than 100 shark teeth, and in 2024 she found her first complete megalodon tooth. The latest find is already the second in her collection.
“It’s like holding time in your hands. Each find reminds us how ancient and amazing the world we live in is,” says Nicole.
