A passenger plane collided with a military helicopter
In the US capital Washington, an airliner coming in for landing with 60 passengers on board collided over the city with a military helicopter.
It is reported that the plane after the collision fell into the Potomac River, it is not far from the White House.
According to US media, the US Army Blackhawk helicopter (H-60) collided with a passenger plane near Washington.
The passenger plane collided with a Sikorsky H-60 helicopter during a landing approach.
The plane was American Airlines Flight 5342 and was a Bombardier CRJ700 regional jet from PSA Airlines.
By now it is known to have departed from Wichita, Kansas earlier in the day.
The investigation is being conducted by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) along with the FAA.
The FAA noted that the statement is based on preliminary information and is subject to change.
It is also reported that Russian figure skaters and coaches were on board the airliner that collided with the helicopter.
According to preliminary data, a group of figure skaters and coaches were returning by plane from the figure skating championship.
