A large-scale opposition offensive has begun in Syria

A large-scale offensive by the armed opposition against the positions of dictator Bashar al-Assad’s army in Aleppo province has begun in Syria.

Opposition forces, supported by Turkey, have already captured several settlements, as well as two tanks of the Syrian army.

The offensive was the first major offensive by opposition forces in four years. This is reported by local Telegram channels.

In response to the attacks, the Syrian army, together with the Russian military, has raised aircraft to strike rebel positions.

However, the opposition is actively using MANPADS (man-portable surface-to-air missile systems), inflicting significant losses on Russian aircraft.

Opposition forces, including the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) faction, are successfully advancing towards Aleppo.

They have already liberated several strategic towns, including Andzara, Al-Hota and Kafr Bissin, and are only 7.5 kilometers away from Aleppo’s eastern outskirts.

Mobilization of additional forces for the offensive on the city has already been announced.
