Fascinating but Strange

A hungry student ate an exhibit displayed in a museum

One of the exhibits at the Leeum Museum of Art in Seoul was damaged by a visitor named No Hyun-soo.

The student was looking at the artworks and became particularly interested in a banana attached to the wall with adhesive tape.

The surprising installation was created by Italian visual artist Maurizio Cattelan and was part of the exhibition.

However, No Hyun-soo showed no respect for the masterpiece. He ate the banana and then stuck the peel to the wall. The hooligan explained his actions by saying that he was hungry.

The museum directors informed the artist about the surprising incident involving his creation. No action was taken against the student.

Incidentally, a new banana was quickly hung in place of the eaten one so that overall, the work of art remained the same as it was—the restoration was successful.
