China Fireworks Factory Explosion Kills 26, Injures 61
An explosion hit a fireworks factory in central China, and the последствия оказались тяжелыми. The incident happened in Liuyang County, Hunan Province — a region that’s well known for producing fireworks.
According to official reports, 26 people were killed. Another 61 were injured. Some of them were taken to hospitals with serious conditions.
The blast damaged large parts of the facility. Debris was scattered across the area, which made rescue work slower and more complicated than usual.
Emergency teams arrived fairly quickly, but the situation wasn’t simple. Around 480 rescuers were involved, working in several groups and checking what was left of the buildings.
Rescue robots were also brought in. They’re usually used in places where it’s too risky for people — for example, if structures are unstable or there’s a chance of another explosion.
At one point, there were concerns that some workers might still be missing. Because of that, search efforts continued for quite some time.
China’s President Xi Jinping reacted soon after the news broke. He called for maximum effort — to find anyone unaccounted for, help the injured, and deal with the situation as quickly as possible.
So far, there’s no confirmed cause of the explosion. Investigators are still looking into it.
Accidents like this are not entirely rare in the fireworks industry. Production involves explosive materials, and even small mistakes can lead to serious последствия.
Liuyang is often described as one of the main centers of fireworks manufacturing in China. A lot of products made there are exported worldwide.
This incident again raises questions about safety — not just the rules themselves, but how carefully they are followed in practice.
More details will likely appear once the investigation is completed.
